On March 10, 2026, the Malaysian government announced that the national artificial intelligence (AI) standards framework is expected to achieve clear progress within the next 12 months, marking a key step toward positioning Malaysia as an “AI Nation” by 2030.
The framework will focus on three core components: standards development, regulation and compliance, as well as legislation and enforcement. This initiative aims to ensure that AI technologies are applied in a safe, ethical and legally aligned manner as adoption expands across industries.
Authorities also highlighted that the framework will incorporate local legal and cultural considerations while aligning with ASEAN and international standards. The launch of the My-AI Standards platform further supports collaboration, knowledge-sharing and implementation, in line with the Malaysia AI Action Plan 2026–2030.
From the perspective of FOZL Group, Malaysia’s acceleration in building an AI governance framework reflects its strategic push into the digital economy. As standards and regulations become clearer, businesses will benefit from more structured compliance pathways in AI adoption and data governance. With our presence across Singapore, Malaysia, China, Germany, Europe and Indonesia, FOZL supports companies in establishing compliant digital frameworks and strengthening sustainable cross-border operations.
