Global livable cities: Singapore ranks 26th globally and 10th in Asia-Pacific

On June 27, 2024, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), also known as the Economist Intelligence Unit, released The Global Liveability Index 2024 showing that Singapore achieved a total score of 92.9, ranking globally 26th . In the Asia-Pacific city rankings, Singapore is ranked 10th . Singapore's healthcare services, education, and infrastructure all received perfect scores.

This survey, covering 173 cities worldwide, was conducted from February 12 to March 17, 2024. The survey combines scores from a panel of experts and correspondents stationed in each city, as well as rankings derived from the analysis of third-party data. The scoring spans five main categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

Singapore's healthcare system is well-established, and further improvements in infant mortality and universal healthcare have resulted in a perfect score. Furthermore, Singapore employs a mixed model of individual and government funding, providing universal healthcare coverage through healthcare savings and Medishield Life. In other aspects, Singapore has achieved a perfect score for education and infrastructure for two consecutive years; stability remains at 95 points; and culture and environment scored 76.6 points.
