Temasek’s Net Portfolio Value Hits Record S$434 Billion

09 July 2025, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek released its annual report for the financial year ended 31 March 2025, announcing a record-high net portfolio value of S$434 billion (approximately US$340 billion). This represents an increase of S$45 billion from the previous fiscal year. The growth was largely driven by the strong performance of Singapore-listed companies, along with solid direct investment returns from China, the United States, and India.

Performance: Strong Short-Term Returns, Steady Long-Term Gains

The report showed that Temasek delivered a one-year total shareholder return (TSR) of 11.8% in Singapore dollar terms and 12.4% in US dollar terms—substantially higher than the 1.6% recorded in the previous year. Over the longer term, annualized returns stood at 7% over 20 years and 5% over 10 years, reflecting the resilience of its investment portfolio.

Investment Strategy: Geographic and Sectoral Diversification

Geographically, Singapore remains Temasek’s core market, accounting for 41% of its portfolio value (with 27% in underlying assets). The Americas make up 24%, followed by China at 18%. Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) account for 12%, and India for 8%.

In terms of sector focus, Temasek continues to align its investments with four key structural trends: digitalization, sustainable living, future consumption, and longer lifespans. Notable investments include companies in artificial intelligence (such as NVIDIA and Databricks), data centers, and the green economy.

Outlook: Targeting Resilient Assets Amid Geopolitical Risks

Temasek International’s Deputy CEO noted that while geopolitical tensions may weigh on global economic growth, the firm remains “constructively optimistic” about investment opportunities. It will continue to invest in companies with resilient cash flows, strong domestic demand, and robust supply chains. The United States remains a primary investment destination, while Temasek also retains a long-term positive view on China’s green economy, life sciences sector, and domestic consumer brands.

This record-setting performance underscores Temasek’s ability to grow its portfolio value through diversified strategies amid global market volatility, reinforcing its role as a strategic “anchor of stability” for Singapore’s economy.
