Malaysia Unveils AI Nation Framework with Five Pillars to Drive Digital Transformation and Inclusive Growth

On August 12, 2025, Malaysia has unveiled its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Nation Framework with Five Pillars at the 2025 ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit (AAIMS25), aiming to ensure that AI benefits all citizens while promoting digital transformation and inclusive economic development.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim outlined the five pillars: forward-looking policies, agile and digitally fluent workforce, secure and reliable digital infrastructure, advancement of digital trust, and strategic investments. These initiatives will drive the MADANI Economy, positioning AI as advanced, inclusive, trusted, and purpose-driven.

He highlighted that ASEAN, with nearly 700 million people, a rapidly growing digital economy, and rich cultural diversity, is uniquely positioned to shape inclusive and ethical AI development. The government will leverage public-private partnerships and international collaboration to foster a thriving AI ecosystem while ensuring benefits reach all citizens.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this framework is more than a roadmap; it is a movement promoting sustainable and inclusive growth, integrated into the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) with the ambition of establishing Malaysia as an AI nation.
