Singapore and Cambodia to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation Across Key Sectors

3 July 2025, Singapore and Cambodia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including clean energy, agri-trade, and education, as both countries mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

During an official visit to Phnom Penh on July 2, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met with his Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and other key government officials. PM Wong’s visit is part of a broader diplomatic initiative to engage with fellow ASEAN nations.

Both leaders agreed to explore new areas of collaboration, particularly in sustainable energy and food security. Singapore's Keppel Corporation and Cambodia’s Royal Group Power had earlier signed a pact to jointly develop a low-carbon power project.

In the area of food trade, Singapore and Cambodia aim to enhance cooperation to ensure resilience in regional food supply chains. With Cambodia being a significant exporter of agricultural produce, closer collaboration could support food diversification efforts and benefit both economies.

The two countries also pledged to work closely on regional integration efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity within ASEAN. PM Wong highlighted the need for open dialogue and constructive cooperation to address shared challenges in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.

During the visit, PM Wong and Mrs. Wong also paid a courtesy call on King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, further underscoring the strong and longstanding ties between the two nations.

As Singapore and Cambodia look ahead, both governments expressed optimism about the potential for continued partnership in human capital development, digital innovation, and infrastructure.
